Partner API

Build on the map.

The LocalAstro partner API gives your product the same engine our own app uses: the lines of a birth moment across the world, and what each place tends to ask of the person. Nothing here is improvised. The same birth moment gives the same answer today and in ten years.

What you get

Four endpoints, one engine.

POST /lines

The forty lines

Every planet on every angle for one birth moment, as GeoJSON you can draw on any map, each line named in one or two words.

POST /reading

A reading of a place

Which lines reach a place, how close, what it tends to give, what it asks, and a gentle ceiling on staying. A place no line reaches is said plainly.

GET /places

Place lookup

About 5,000 towns by name, with coordinates and the IANA time zone you need to turn a local birth time into an instant.

GET /archetypes

The forty archetypes

The meaning of every line in the same words every reading uses, written once by a person and the same every time.

Quick start

Your first call.

  1. Get a key. Sign in on the dashboard with your email and a code we send to it, then create a workspace for your company. It starts with 500 free calls for testing, and you create your own keys there. A key is shown once, so keep it somewhere safe.
  2. Keep it on your server. Call the API from your backend. A key in a web page or an app bundle is a key anybody can read.
  3. Send a birth moment. The base URL is https://api.localastro.com/v1/partner.
Request
curl https://api.localastro.com/v1/partner/lines \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer la_live_YOUR_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "birthUtc": "1991-03-12T14:30:00Z",
    "latitude": 41.15,
    "longitude": -8.61,
    "confidenceTier": 1
  }'

The answer is a GeoJSON FeatureCollection of up to forty lines. Every field is in the reference.

Allowance

You pay for answers, not attempts.

Each workspace has an allowance of calls. Every answered call spends one. A request we reject as malformed, or fail to answer, is not counted, and checking your usage is free. When the allowance is spent the API answers 429 with call_limit_reached until we add more, so nothing is ever charged past what you agreed.

Every spent call carries X-Calls-Remaining, and the dashboard shows the last sixty days.

Your workspace opens with 500 free calls for testing. Once your integration works, ask for more from the dashboard or write to info@localastro.com: calls are arranged and invoiced by hand, and added to your allowance once agreed.

Privacy

We keep none of it.

The birth moments you send are used for the one response and dropped. They are not stored, cached or logged; what we keep is a count of calls per day. How the readings are worked out is written up on How we read a place.
